Training-Leash To Slip-Leash

People often ask about the small welded ring on my six-foot training leashes.

For a number of reasons; broken collars, dogs getting loose while wearing no collar, and so on, I wanted a quick way to convert my six-foot training-leash to a kennel-slip. For a few cents I bought a welded steel ring at the local building supply store.

The ring is just big enough to work over the hand-loop of my leash. Normally, it is stowed over the braid close to the snap.

When I need to convert to a kennel-slip, I just pull it up and connect the bolt-snap to the ring.

When I'm working around the dogs, I always have my leash. Sometimes worn over the shoulder like a lanyard, sometimes worn around the waist like a belt. With the addition of the ring, I also always have a spare slip-collar.

Good luck with your training!
